Marchon Eyewear, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of quality eyewear and sunwear, will automatize its EMEA distribution center based in Amsterdam. In order to do this, Marchon has chosen to partner with Inther Logistics Engineering B.V. in developing a shuttle solution which includes a mechanized transport system with goods-to-person workplaces.
The solution will be built around a Stingray shuttle system for automatic storage and retrieval of the eyewear. The shuttle will be connected to receiving, goods-to-person picking and packing stations through a network of roller conveyors and belts. Picking of the orders will be done with the help of a pick to light system.
Inther will start implementing the systems, which are fully controlled by the Warehouse Control System Inther LC, at the start of 2015. The system is expected to be operational in the summer of 2015.
